Fashion
2012
I purchased many new closing for high prices. With the expectation that the price ensures the quality. But the result was different.
The pieces lost their shape
The seams fall apart
The closing became very fast smelly
I was used to a different quality and highly disappointed.
2013 a terrible catastrophe happened
the Rana Plaza factory collapsed and 1138 people died. The following brands produced in this building: Benetton, El Corte Inglés, KiK und Mango.
The Building was in bad shape, the workers did no longer want to work there before the collapse. To ensure the production. The workers got locked insight the building.
Please find more information under the following link
This catastrophe showed hat the profit is made on the cost of life of the workers.
Would you work at a place where you run the risk to get killed? Where you have no health care? No social security and your salary is so low that you hardly can survive?
While other people make millions with your work force and can live in pure luxury

But what about the price?
Money is a limited resource for most of us. Therefore sometimes we are looking for cheap pieces.
There are no robots who can do clothing. Behind every piece, there are people who have seed and collected thee cotton. Who were operating the machines to create the fabric. And mostly, people who are sitting for 8 hours and more behind a sewing machine and sew one seam after the other.
Being aware of all this manual work, one need to consider how much you would want to get as an hourly payment for this work ? Some calculaion examples.
How much do you usally pay for a dinner?
How many hours will the dinner last and how many hours will you be fed from it?
What is the hourly price of the dinner?
How much do you usally pay for a shirt?
How many hours will you wear the shirt?
What is the hourly price of the shirt?
Make your own calculation examples
If you sell 360 Shirts / year for 50 CHF shirt
Your total turnover is 18'000 CHF
if you pull off, the costs to buy the shirt from the supplier, the rent of your shop or online space to sell it. Marketing and advertisement work to sell it.
You end up with a profit of 5 to 20 CHF / Shirt.
This would give you a yearly profit of 1’825- 7’200 CHF.
You would need work for these 1920 hours. This leaves you with an hourly salary of
0.9- 3.75 CHF
How much are your living costs?
How many shirts would you need to sell to make your living?
What would be a fair price for your shirt?
